The information and stories in the book including dozens of first person experiences from those who changed their diets after reading the first edition of Green for Life are compelling, even shocking, and offer the promise of healing for any of us with health and skin issues It's short, it's interesting, and it makes you want to run to your nearest green grocer for an armload of greens to shove into your blender. Lots of information and case studies on why green smoothies are beneficial, along with a recipe section.

Chlorophyll is liquid sunshine! Many claim to offer optimal health or weight loss, disease control or the next thing. I find myself reading diet books with a certain skepticism I highly recommend reading [ Green for Life ], and trying the smoothies, to anyone.

If your health is declining, your weight is increasing or decreasing unexpectedly, or if you would like overall health benefits of amazing greens I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I noticed a difference in myself after only one day drinking the smoothies. That shocked me. I felt so betrayed by my own desires of wanting 'regular' food. I felt more energized, didn't need as much sleep the night afterward, and could tell my digestion was better I'm glad to know there's an easy way to add greens and fruits to my diet She literally has pages and pages of inspiring testimonials, which is helpful for us as readers since we can pinpoint our trouble spot and then look through the book for a way to tackle it with the help of greens.

I recommend everyone add more organic green smoothies as a way to add raw veggies and fruit and this book is got great information why green smoothies are an easy way to improve your health. What lacks is the details of how she gets enough Omega-3s. Which implies she's getting them from greens. However the list of greens in that chapter show that most greens have way more omega-6s. Now she does talk about chia and flax seeds as a source of Omega-3s, which I do and is common knowledge, but I would have preferred more specific information about the amount of seed and which seeds she eats to get that ratio to the proper value.

Getting enough Omega-3s from a vegan diet is controversial you can add a algae based omega 3 supplement but most also contain an omega-6 oil that is not fully answered to me at least in this book. Suffering from chemo-caused peripheral neuropathy, my chiropractor sent me to a class on how to incorporate raw foods into my diet. I got far more than I expected in these three hours. The presenter brought two high-speed blenders, utensils, a food dryer, and lots of fresh produce into the classroom.

She showed us two books after demonstrating how to make green smoothies, and serving us each an 8 oz glass of a delicious drink. She told us about Victoria Boutenko and how what she learned from this scientist had changed her life. She provided us with facts about the nutrient content of various greens and other ingredients and read some anecdotes from the book. Since I had a very high trust level for my chiropractor's wisdom I bought the book and became immersed in Boutenko's nutrition journey of understanding.

I wanted to continue the nerve healing that my chiropractor had started in my extremities so I was open to implementing many of her suggestions. My nerves are nearly completely healed and that I attribute in part to the enzyme cocktails I regularly imbibe in now. My receding hairline has begun to fill back in, continuing still after a year.

I sleep better. I have increased energy. I crave the greens like never before. I highly recommend the book for the vast information it provides about the benefits of eating much more raw foods than ever I did before. I have yet to read one of Victoria's books about smoothies and not be inspired to work harder at healthy living. I am not privileged to find all of the ingredients that make up her recipes, but I love to blend in the ones I am privied to.

It's funny, most of my friends and those who have been guests at our home, when they meet each other or are in the company of each other, they ALWAYS ask if the other has ever had one of my green smoothies.

The ones who haven't which are few fuss at me for not having made one for them, the rest talk about the ones I've made them. I would say about 99 percent of those who have had my smoothies have become converts.

I was an avid juicer before doing green smoothies, and I must credit Victoria Boutenko and her family for the switch. So, if you want to drink healthy, life giving beverages, and you need a place to start or if you already do the green thing and would like to expand your collection of recipes, and be encouraged while you do it, Green for Life is a great place to start. Green for Life, absolutely, eat as many greens as you can and make them the priority of your diet, but I learned this principal from other books on good nutrition.

Books that included the newest scientific studies to reinforce this point of view and that is what I found lacking in this book. The smoothie recipes at the end of the book are something that I will try. I also found the comparison to other primates very thought provoking.
