Apr Posted by Alka. I am still trying to make sense of the book even after multiple attempts at reading by cross referencing pages back and then to the current one. In between, there is a plethora of characters with chronology totally being murdered! Not able to understand what I am talking about?

The novel had an innovative plot and was so well-written that it became one of the all-time best sellers and catapulted Dan Brown to International fame.
Ashwin Sanghvi is an Indian author who has written this novel, which is clearly inspired by Da Vinci Code. While Da Vinci Code was about Mary Magdalene and her relationship with Jesus, this novel is centred around the life of the apostle of peace, Jesus Christ. Da Vinci Code was a highly controversial book, which explored the theme of the marriage of Jesus with Mary Magdalene and the novel was all about the search for the Holy Grail and its link to Mary Magdalene.
In fact, Rozabal is believed to the resting place for Jesus and contains the grave where Jesus was buried. Sanghvi uses this theme and mixes it up with Indian divinity concept and even explores a theory that Jesus was inspired by Buddhism!!
As you can imagine, this kind of a mixture is a heady concoction and offers a great opportunity for an author to write a masterpiece. But unfortunately, Sanghvi disappoints and a golden opportunity for him to become another Dan Brown is lost. If this book had been as successful as Da Vinci Code, then all Indians would have been proud of an Internationally acclaimed Indian author. In fact, Sanghvi released this book in the US, under the pseudonym of Shawn Haigins, to impress foreign readers.
It is difficult to review this book without revealing too much of the plot. But I have tried my best to avoid spoilers:. The main character of this novel is Vincent Clair, a priest who keeps getting visions of his past life. He sets out to India to find out the story of his past, along with his sister Martha. A feature of this novel is the presence of a large number of sub-plots that include:. This dark organization reports to a Bin Laden type character. These organizations play a major role in this novel too, along with new society called Crux Decussata Permuta..
The novel is set in , but it includes many anecdotes from history. In fact, the narration shifts moves from one era to another so fast, that if you are not following closely, you are likely to end up being thoroughly confused. The author has clearly done some very good research. His research is extensive and the bibliography at the end of the novel reveals his sources. He has taken pains to explore various facets related to the life of Jesus and has studied the works of many authors and researchers.
But all his research is done through books and through websites. Probably, Sanghvi is trying to prove that his book is novel!! This makes it difficult for the reader to stay in the loop. Here is where, the novel looks like a cheap copy of Da Vinci Code.
And some of the incidents to the end of the novel are too fantastic and unbelievable. Yes, this is fiction, but still things should be believable. Overall the novel is worth a read. It is a good first effort by the author. Despite all its flaws, it makes for decent reading. But if you have not read the Da Vinci Code, then I recommend that you read this, you will probably like this. Upload photo files with.

In short ,its really a simple copy-cat of Da Vinci code, the way I understand it. But I think the author failed to research about the life of Jesus Christ, that h Its sad that he has to make fiction out of the story of Christ which is real some many years ago.
He should be careful with his writings about Christ as it may be offensive for Christian followers. Thank u for sharing your review in the most honest way of revealing the story of the book. For your review I will rate it VU but not the way the book was written. Read More. By: deepak27 Feb 16, PM.
Your review is good. Only one point I want to add Rozabal Shrine, in Srinagar, is a place, where according to researchers [specially Holger Kerst Kersten''s book appears as real as an Historical finding, but only few buy his theory.
People who are interested on this subject may also Google on net, and read much much more about such claims, books, research works. Last, ok, The Da vinci Code was Great thriller, but if you really like to catch the man, Catch Dan Brown and his other works to enjoy his style and themes. By: vinfina Feb 16, PM. Great review Deepak.
Not very sure how the indian author will indianize the vinci code, but as par yo Anyways thanks for this wonderful review. Nice narration Deepak Ji and objective assessment as well.
You have contrasted the book well with the classic novel of Dan Brown. Since I have yet to read The Vinci Code unfortunately! By: jmathur Feb 17, PM. By: deepak27 Feb 17, PM. If you have read Da Vinci, then you should read this book without much of expectations, otherwise you may be disappointed.
Deserves ROTD Hi Deepak, Excellent review You review is very useful and is also great to read.. By: deepak27 Feb 18, PM. I will recommend Da Vinci Code any day. If for any reason you don''t want to read it, then you try this one. Otherwise this one is much inferior compared to Da Vinci. I have seen Da Vinci code movie quite a number of times and loved it always.. Sounds good! After a long time, we have an Indian fiction writer, and he seems to be leagues ahead of the other unworthy authors creating fake accounts and rating themselves!
Even though his writing seems inspired, it would make an interesting read. Would like to give this book a look though I have read Da Vinci.
By: deepa. And if you are interested, you can read Angels and Demons, that is a far superior book compared to Da Vinci Code, the movie again was absolute lousy. Good Review..
Looks very interesting.. I haven read Da Vinci Code.. I have read Dan Brown''s Digital Fortress! By: desigal Feb 19, AM. Thanks Deepak for writing such nice review. I am yet to read Da Vinci Code, so I can read this. From the review it appears that the book is a masala copy ala Bollywood films.
We love such type of a Bollywood film if we have not seen the original. View more comments. Read All Reviews. Thank you for sharing the requirements with us. We'll contact you shortly. Didn't receive? Resend OTP. No Thanks Allow.
