I have searched for info on them, but am still confused as to what the purpose is if you already have mic preamps you are using and like. Still somewhat new to recording. Am I correct in my understanding that it is an 8-channel preamp? That seems odd Or would you use it as a piece of gear to run audio signals in and out of your DAW to alter the sound once recorded? Or would you use it after the compressor before it hits the interface?
That doesn't seem to make sense either. Just curious. Thanks for any help with this. As you can imagine, my searching has yielded much Behringer-bashing, so please keep that in mind. This is not something that would make any signal sound better. At best, it'll make the input signal sound worse, from a little bit to a lot. Looks like we can move away from foreign oil! It's not going very well It wasn't the only pre I had or used but it was fun, inexpensive and helped me get my groove on. A good deal, right?
I've since gotten rid of it in favor of more expensive pre's that I enjoy better. What I found restrictive about the Behri UTC technology whether engaging the tube or not was the effect of the opamps. I don't like them and feel they're a bit noisy and definitely slow. They also don't handle being overdriven very well so when you push them instead of getting a useful saturation effect, you get a flubby, folding, clipping effect that really sucks. Also when you stack tracks using the Behri x pre's the mud gets thick real quick in the lower mids - around Hz.
On the cheap, just getting started, or if that's the kind of effect you're looking for - great. My T never gave me a days trouble, it was a snap to roll in different tubes and I actually had it for about 6 years. It says, "I require the nervous system of a mammal. Do you have one handy? That helps. Who is online Users browsing this forum: No registered users and 17 guests.
