Tradition holds that Ethiopia was first evangelized by St. Matthew and St. Bartholomew in the 1st century ce , and the first Ethiopian convert is thought to have been the eunuch in Jerusalem mentioned in The Acts of the Apostles — Ethiopia was further Christianized in the 4th century ce by two men likely brothers from Tyre— St. Frumentius , later consecrated the first Ethiopian bishop , and Aedesius. They won the confidence of the king at Aksum a powerful kingdom in northern Ethiopia and were allowed to evangelize.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has a daily worship service called Kidase. This service was created by the holy apostles nearly two thousand years ago and given a rhythmic structure by the Ethiopian Saint Yared years ago.
Kidase means to give thanks to The Lord by mankind and the angles alike. Kidase also has the purpose of converting the wine and bread into the Holy Sacrament the blood and body of Christ , as Jesus did on the eve of his crucifixion. The book of Kidase is separated into three parts: 1. The prayer of the priest, 2. The prayer of the people, 3. The prayer of the deacon.
The priest is instructed by the book of Kidase on how to pray and chant, the people like the angles are to be full participants in giving praise to The Lord, and the deacon reads, chants, and instructs the people. In the Ethiopian Orthodox Church all Christians no matter their age, gender, status, or education are required to praise The Lord according to the Kidase.
Therefore, this Kidase CD has been prepared so everyone may learn how to be participants in worshiping and giving thanks through this ancient apostolic tradition. This, first of it's kind, double CD package came about due to the tremendous amount of requests made by the church going public who have encountered the Kidase according to Melakegenet Gezahegn Kristos. In the past four decades of service, Melakegenet has been a deacon at Kidest Sellasie Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he conducted service for the King, His Imperial Majesty Haile Sellasie I, then went to the holy city of Jerusalem to share his gifts with the faithful of that city and those who came from around the world to worship, and then founded Saint Mary of Zion Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in New York City where many have come to pray and worship for the past twenty years.
Melakegenet Gezahegn Kristos has been blessed with an ability to deliver the Kidase in a way that has never been heard before and that draws people to Christ our Lord.
