Inside this newsletter was a link and password for electronic members to view the Catalogue. From what I see there are a lot of re-boxings for the th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the 70th anniversary of El Alamein and 30th anniversary of the Falklands. I'll list below what items have the "new for " logo and the "New tool" logo's for those who are not airfix members. Firstly on Page there is an advert for the Airfix club advertising all the benefits there are a few club kits I havent seen released yet that some will find interesting, the images are quite small so I cannot gather full details from them, however these are,.

That should wet your appetites for a little while some we know about and have been waiting for others a surprise Airfix is venturing into ETCH! The other club special is a Meteor F. There's been quite bit of discussion about the Airfix programme here;.

I personally would struggle to name any 1 British WWII sub, I have trouble naming some of the americans but thats down to them having about 20 per class and 20 classes of submarine.

The starter kits are starting to look good, alot of the kits are now the reissued New Tools, with some of the larger set covering things like the Tonka and Harrier.

In addition to all those cars already present the Mini and the Fiesta are joining the range as a starter set, a fantastic kit I think for any budding modeler or a way to get a young son or daughter interested in either just cars or models.

Additionally there is a Mini twin pack of well two mini coopers and lots of schemes to choose from. It seems to be the same old stuff over and over. Spitfires, mustangs, Messerschmitts, grey battleships, Minis, reissues etc, etc.

Yes, the things that sell well that means they can still make the stuff that doesn't sell so well. That's how I figure it anyway.

Hi Colonel, you are correct really and breath holding is ill advised unless of course, under water. However I would suggest everyone knows of the X-craft attacking the Tirpiz?

Yes a real shame. I think a lot of this was down to how we demonised the U Boats during WWII so it was then hard to praise our guys doing the same job. They don't appear to be taking too many risks in with any major new airframes other than the choppers.

Probably too small a sales niche but I would love to leave the vacform ones in the stash to save my sanded finger tips! Gnat and Swordfish will be nice but they were known about before. Maybe a surprise will come later in the year as alot of manufacturers hold their cards close to their chests in case someone gazumps them to a release. Is the Airfix Chipmonk a new tool or just new decals? If it's the same old kit, many may jump to the soon to come AZ-models series.

Blah blah blah I get your point about the demonisation, I guess our propaganda machine focused more on the exploits of Commando raids and supporting resistance movements.

But I'm no war historian. Our guys in subs were every bit a brave as the Axis crews and suffered just as badly. And deserve recognision and I really think any of the sub classes T, S, O etc would sell well enough. Back to Blah blah blah If the King Tiger is a success, Airfix might be encouraged to do a new tool Tiger I to replace the horrible old one please.

I wonder how they will do the tracks - they look a bit too complicated for the method used on the Cromwell kit. Will it include a choice of turrets? I Look forward to the Mustangs big time!!! In particular the gift box issue in RAF colours. The question is Hope so!!! After all, they included one in the Mark 2 retool of the early 70s'. As the saying goes, a Tamiya Me doesn't make any money for Airfix - end of the day it's a no brainer.

It is nice to have the Seafire back. I Bought more Aifix kits in than any other make. Thats not good to notice literally an hour after I had sent off my last Flying Hours Passport based on the old terms and amounts - Will just have to hope Airfix might still honour it but knowing my luck they wont. They are all still Valid.

Excellent, I still have an older passport. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy! Already have an account? Sign in here.
